What happened? Apparently there are no life threatening injuries, but 8 were injured and the police still have not found the suspects. This is not good for anyone, especially the Austin hip hop community. More details can be found over at the The Statesman’s “The Blotter” crime blog. I’ll try to post more information as I get it.

According to KXAN, the suspects have turned themselves in and all the people that were injured in the incident are expected to recover:

Two men from the rap group LG Allstarz turned themselves in to police on Friday afternoon, suspected of spraying gunfire into a crowd outside Spiros Nightclub near Sixth Street early Friday morning.

The shooting was in apparent retaliation for being turned away from a scheduled performance, police said.

Police said La Grange, Texas, brothers Brandon Bruce “Big Hutch” Hutchison, 25, and Labaaron Demon “Li’l Hutch” Hutchison, 21, are wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the men allegedly shot eight people with handguns at 2:15 a.m. Friday.

Six victims were taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge , and two refused medical treatment at the scene. Though one person was shot in the stomach and received critical injuries, police said she is out of the emergency room. All are expected to recover.

…witnesses to the melee at Spiros nightclub have started to surface, identifying the suspects as members of a La Grange-based hip hop group called the LG All Starz.

The 2:15 a.m. shooting happened after the LG All Starz, who were scheduled to play Thursday at the club, at 611 Red River St., were kicked out, police said. Promoter Ramone “Sicc” Stewart said he told police that an altercation occurred between him and members of the group because they wanted Stewart to cut a headlining act so they could perform.

“They showed up late and wanted me to cut off one of the headliners,” said Stewart, who has been promoting rap shows in Austin for two years. “When I said ‘no way,’ one of ‘em took a swing at me’ and the bouncers threw them out.”

 Two of the rap-group members, identified by police as brothers Brandon Bruce Hutchison or “Big Hutch”, 25, and LaBaron Demond Hutchison or “Lil’ Hutch”, 20, who were ejected later returned to Spiros and started shooting, police said.

Austin police Lt. Christian Malanka said the two men were carrying handguns, but it was still unknown how many shots were fired. Police said eight people were shot and six were transported to various hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Malanka said one woman, who was shot twice in her stomach, had gone through surgery this morning and was recovering.

 Stewart described a scene of pandemonium when two of the men returned about four minutes later and sprayed gunshots inside the club from outside, then fled in a waiting car. Police said they are still investigating this claim.

 “Most of the people who got shot were females,” said Stewart, who was stabbed in the arm during the melee. “One of my friends was shot in the stomach two times. Another friend was shot in the back.”
