Deezie Fresh – Hoop Dreams

Hoop Dreams is a strong set of songs coming out of Austin’s ever growing vibrant scene. A constant is the production from fellow crew member Kydd, who produced most of the album and raps on a few tracks.

Austin’s The LOEGz team up with LA’s Shane Eli for the “The Plug” EP. Guests include their tour partner from last summer, Rittz.

Little Rock’s Pepperboy, who got some love this past summer on The Fader and SPIN, album Nitetime features Lil Ugly Mane collaborators SortaHuman and also Austin’s Western Tink.

The Avalanches – Sleepy Bedtime Mix for Young Ones 

Another tropical mix, this time from Zimmer, who likes to call his music “horizontal disco.” Whatever it is, it’s some cool ass tunes for warm weather. Check out the interview he did for Gotta Dance Dirty, where he describes his perfect dj set  as a virgin beach in the middle of nowhere in Mexico…damn that sound freakin nice.

Dj Nick Nack, long a fixture in Austin’s hip-hop and dj scene, drops his first full length album since 2010′s Dearly Departed. State Machine has a handful of features from some big indie hip hop names: Bavu Blakes, A.Dd+, Crew54 and LOEGz.

“State Machine” is inspired by the human apparatus which is a complex ‘machine’ capable of an extremely wide range of ‘states’ (as in conditions with respect to circumstances). As ‘machines’ we can relate to one another through these rich and meaningful ‘states’. They help to define and shape the paths which we travel throughout our lives.

This album in and of itself is meant to be a stateful sonic journey, traversing a variety of genres, moods and styles (from angst riddled raps to relaxing soulful instrumentals).

Hailing from Austin, Kydd drops Sounds in My Head Part 2, with features from Skyzoo, Pac Div and Yelawolf.

Dj Diamond Tip – Energy Crisis!

Medium and Conspicuous Consumption are proud to bring you a new mix from Dj Diamond Tip, “Energy Crisis!“. This past February, I sent Tip a few tracks I was listening to–it just so happened that he was listening to a lot of similar stuff. We emailed some ideas and songs back and forth, and a few days later Tip put together this mix. It’s a nice mixture of newer tracks and remixes with some classics thrown in for good measure.
