The Five One - Road to SXSW

So sorry everyone, not much time to post recently. Too much going on! Anyway, today I couldn’t stop listening to this new song from The Gorillaz, so I created the image that popped into my head after listening to the song for a while.  I focused on these verses:

This is basically what I do with most music based projects, focus on several words, instruments, noises or verses and put down what I see in my Ape head. Anyway, enjoy the song and check out the full album, it’s dope! You should expect more SXSW posts in the coming days. Peace.

Another dope track from Spanish producers  Debilorithmicos, ”Devil’s Hands” feat. Racecar & Sarah G.

Gotta give it up to Dallas based producer/graphic artist Objektiv One for staying busy and staying hungry. This time around he teams up with Jabee for a set of love lost inspired tracks.

The Valentine’s Day EP: The Remixes was conceived by Objektiv One and Jabee as a way to vent over lost loves on Valentine’s Day. Somewhat tongue in cheek, but in many ways true to heart and honest.

Damn! The homie Nick Nack mentioned  to me that he was going to be putting out a new album soon…but damn! After a six year hiatus, the Austin based dj and producer returns with “Dearly Departed” a sound project dedicated to his departed sister. The Austin music icon will be releasing a series of 7″ records prior to the full album through his Crowd Control Records label, with the first arriving in time for SXSW. I’m sure there will be some available at the Gigacrate.com SXSW parties, which you should RSVP to immediately if you are even thinking of being in Austin for SXW.

Cupid’s arrow even hits my studio now and then, so I decided to bring y’all a little Valentine’s Day mix Chop style. The League of Extraordinary Gz - “Concealed Weapons”

If yall have been sleeping, The League of Extraordinary Gz is a hip hop collective based out of Austin, Texas and one of the most talented group of emcees in the south right now. Their first mixtape “Concealed Weapons” contains various tracks from each group’s past mixtapes as well as some new tracks. Download the mixtape and check them out and if you’re in Austin for SXSW, they are an official SXSW showcasing band.

To most of my readers, I don’t even know what to tell y’all about J-Dilla that you may not already know. Personally he’s one of the biggest influences and even though my taste in music keep changing, there’s nothing like putting on some headphones and listening to Welcome 2 Detroit while I go off on a digital canvas.

I created this wallpaper back in 2006, which evolved into a tee shirt mock up which I never got printed up. Truth be told I posted the design up somewhere and got a cease and desist order from Stones Throw in 2007…but that’s another story for another day. RIP J-Dilla.

My effin Gawd, I cannot keep up. The best job done, regarding fee parties is Austinist’s SXSWist’s because I seriously cannot keep up with this stuff! I posted what I could…this shit is seriously overwhelming! Look through it, see what you like, RSPV ASAP.

Yo! With the music festival of all music festivals less than a month away, looks like more information on the free parties is starting to flow in. Here are some that I think look pretty cool, make sure you check out Austinist for a crazy comprehensive list and follow their special SXSW twitter feed @sxswist

One of the most interesting looking parties/shows is the Six Stages over Texas block party with VIP tickets including free bourbon, beer and free food…not quite sure what the heck it’s all about, but will update when I find out.

Austin360 recently put up a list of unofficial parties as well, looks like there will be plenty going on.
