Oddisee West Coast Beats – Hosted By Trek Life

DC area based producer Oddisee took a trip out west while producing Trek Life’s latest album and as he says on the bandcamp page, ” I don’t know if it was the palm trees, beaches, or burgers but this is what I was making in LA.”

Trek Life’s album, “Everything Changed Nothing” produced entirely by Oddisee drops on July 27th, and you can check some of it out on Trek Life’s  MySpace page.

Classixx at U Street Music Hall DC

LA’s Classixx will be at DC’s U Street Music Hall this Saturday, May 29th. Doors open at ten, tickets are $10 and the venue is 18+. A few weeks ago I posted an older Classixx mix that stays in constant rotation, make sure you check it out.

From U Street Music Hall

Barely into their twenties, Classixx has begun defining a new sound for the Los Angeles electronic music scene. A refreshing change from the trance and techno inspired Electro that has been dominating dance floors, their Donna Summer’esque grooves have caught the ears of music aficionados, fans and artists alike. With recent remixes for groundbreaking artists such as Phoenix, The Ting Tings, Shiny Toy Guns and The Sounds their funky midtempo sound is turning heads everywhere. Their single, “I’ll Get You” featuring Jeppe (Junior Senior), is a debut track from the new collaboration between Kitsune Records and photoblogger Mark TheCobraSnake.

Oddisee Odd Spring

The final installment of Oddisee’s Odd Seasons series. Word.

From OddiseeMusic.com

Well here it is… has it really been a year? You now, When I first got in to music I did it purely for the fun and excitement of it. As the seasons came an went my hobby transformed into a full on career. The “Odd Seasons” series was a way for me to be creative for no reason other that creativity. That’s why they’ve been free releases. In order to remind my self why I do music, I have to allow some of my works to be created and released for well…. I hate to say it but…. “The Love”

Now That the “Odd Seasons” are complete I’ll be pressing them on vinyl in a lovely box set that will contain all four seasons. So yes, the time will come when you’ll be able to support and purchase. Enough with this! ODD SPRING!!!

Oddissee - Odd Winter

Arguably one of DMV’s most talented musicians, Oddisee, drops another collection of tracks in his seasonal collection. This one has some verses from Homeboy Sandman and Oddisee’s Diamond District bandmate and fellow DMVer, X.O.

I missed Odd Autumn, but make sure you check that one out too.

District of Caylumbia 2 and Super Nike Nando

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I try to promote artists from the DC area as much as I can, but truth be told, there are so many people making music and so many mixtapes floating around that it’s a bit difficult to actually download and sift through it all. Also, many people push their albums just like they push their mixtapes, with no singles or videos that it’s hard to tell what’s worth posting and what’s not. As far as blogging, almost zero artists have streaming tracks online besides on MySpace, but MySpace is cluttered, the songs load slowly (or not at all) and the tracks are not embeddable on blogs. Either way, I’ll leave my bitching about artists for another post, here’s some projects that have popped up on my radar recently from Cayan and Nando McFly. Tell me what yall think.

Lil' Wayne Impersonator Wanted

Ha! You just gotta love Craigslist sometimes. This was posted earlier today, wonder if they have found their Lil’ Wayne yet, I would love to see video of the live performance. I’ve never seen a Lil’ Wayne impersonator but I would definitely like to, I’d even pay cover charge to show up to this kid’s birthday party and witness it firsthand.
