The latest mixtape from Austin based hip hop group, The League of Extraordinary Gz, dropped on Memorial Day. It’s 21 tracks, featuring production from Reggie Coby, Matt Schad, Chop Steak, Nasty Kuttz, and Swollen Drumz. Along with the mixtape, the second Texas Guns tee, now in burnt orange, is on sale through their Bandcamp page. Word.

The League of Extraordinary Gz – “Concealed Weapons”

If yall have been sleeping, The League of Extraordinary Gz is a hip hop collective based out of Austin, Texas and one of the most talented group of emcees in the south right now. Their first mixtape “Concealed Weapons” contains various tracks from each group’s past mixtapes as well as some new tracks. Download the mixtape and check them out and if you’re in Austin for SXSW, they are an official SXSW showcasing band.

I saw this a few weeks ago but didn’t have time to post it. Dj The Real Chino from Top Flight Djs slowed and chopped one of my favorite independent projects from this past year, Southbound’s Seasons Change.

I recently wrapped up the some artwork for The League of Extraordinary Gz “Concealed Weapons.” I will have more in depth design talk about the artwork later on The Honest Ape, but for now just want to show everyone and give people a preview of what they should expect from this release.

The project is a collection of some tracks from each individual group that comprises The League of Extraordinary Gz: Southbound, Da C.O.D., and Dred Skott. Da C.O.D.’s Ova Da Stove Vol. 3 is  available at The Screw Shop and Southbound’s Season’s Change is available on iTunes and other digital retailers. I don’t know what the drop date of “Concealed Weapons” will be, but below you can preview some of the tracks from past releases, along with the tracklisting.

There’s nothing like a nice laid back track from some of Austin’s most promising underground talents to wrap up the weekend. I don’t have much information about the song, but according to LowKey (via Twitter) they just wrapped up their new album, so expect to hear more tracks in the near future.
